Sure, the Middle East is tricky -- but can anyone bring peace to feuding rappers Ja Rule and 50 Cent?

Controversial Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan is apparently hoping to do just that, as he met last week with Ja Rule in hopes of heading off further trouble in the longstanding feud between the Murder Inc. star and Eminem's top-selling protege, AllHipHop.com reports.

The face-to-face reportedly took place last Thursday on the Nation of Islam's farm, and Farrakhan also will reportedly meet in the coming weeks with 50 Cent (real name: Curtis Jackson) and his manager Chris Lighty, as well as with Murder Inc. boss Irv Gotti.

Originally, says the Web site, Big Tigga was going to sit down with Ja Rule, but then Farrakhan was chosen at the request of Irv Gotti.

The contents of the conversation between the minister, 70, and Ja Rule (real name: Jeffrey Atkins), 27, which apparently was about reaching a peace accord between warring factions in the music world, was taped. It's also due to be broadcast on 85 urban Clear Channel stations across the country.

This isn't the first time that Farrakhan has intervened between feuding rappers. Shortly after the murders of Tupac Shakur and the Notorious B.I.G., he stepped forward to attempt to broker a peace between artists, notes AllHipHop.

In January, Farrakhan, who is reviled in many quarters for his anti-Semitic sentiments, said of the rap industry: "The reeducation of the public, which is the duty of all in leadership, will cause us to make demands on our artists, their managers, promoters and the owners of the recording, movie and television industries so that the public will be fed a better diet spiritually and mentally, as well as musically and artistically."
