Jude Law was officially divorced from his British actress wife, Sadie Frost, in London's High Court on Wednesday after she blamed him for exacerbating her post-natal depression, according to court papers obtained by Reuters.
Frost, 38, claimed that the behavior of Law, 30, forced her to seek professional medical treatment three times following the birth of the couple's third child in January.
No more details were given at the brief hearing, which was not attended by the couple. Law and Frost were married for six years and separated in January.
While there was no comment from the couple Wednesday, Frost and Law said in a statement issued in August, "We have agreed that a divorce is the only way forward." They added that they wanted the divorce to be "as painless as possible" for their three children: Rafferty (born in 1996), Iris (2000) and Rudy (2002).
Newspapers said their marriage started to suffer late last year after Iris, then aged two, swallowed an ecstasy pill at a children's party at a London club with her mother while Law was out of the country filming "Cold Mountain."
In July, Nicole Kidman won an apology and damages from the Daily Mail newspaper over a report which falsely suggested she had an affair with Law and was responsible for the break-up of his marriage.
Law's film credits include "A.I. Artificial Intelligence," "The Road to Perdition" and "The Talented Mr. Ripley," for which he was nominated for an Oscar as best supporting actor.
Frost also has a son from her previous marriage to former Spandau Ballet guitarist turned actor Gary Kemp.
