Kid Rock apparently was caught on videotape scuffling with a paparazzi photographer as he and Pamela Anderson left a Malibu nightclub Friday night, MTV News reports.

On Tuesday, "Entertainment Tonight" aired the video footage, in which Rock and Anderson were seen leaving the Malibu Inn, where the rocker had leapt onstage for an unrehearsed gig. Once paparazzi swarmed around the couple and cameras began to roll, Rock appeared to toss his drink on one of the photographers.

The videotape purportedly shows Rock manhandling the photog who tried to snap the picture -- with Rock grabbing him by the neck and pushing him into speeding traffic on Pacific Coast Highway.

MTV says the tape then shows Rock (real name: Robert James Ritchie) taking hold of the photographer's sweatshirt and aiming to hit him in the head, but missing -- allowing the unidentified (and uninjured) photographer to escape.

That account, however, conflicts with reports that, after encountering Rock, the same photographer was on the ground awaiting an ambulance, which reportedly took him to a local hospital where he was said to have been treated for unspecified injuries.

Los Angeles County sheriff's Sgt. Tim Youngern would only confirm to MTV that "there is an alleged assault incident we are investigating," but did not elaborate. A spokesperson for Rock, 32, did not immediately comment, and MTV says a Malibu Inn manager said he was not permitted to comment.

As for Rock's relationship with Anderson, 36, despite her recent admission that they are no longer engaged, the pair were together at Sunday's American Music Awards, where Anderson mocked reports about their relationship, the Associated Press reports.

When asked if they've reunited, she looked at Rock and coyly replied: "What? I'm shocked. I could have met him on the corner of Hollywood and Vine."

Since calling off her engagement to Rock, the former "Baywatch" babe has also been seen with ex-husband Tommy Lee, with whom she has two young sons.
