Rapper Nas Busted for Alleged Assault
Queens, N.Y.-born rapper Nas surrendered to police on Wednesday and was charged with assault for allegedly throwing a bottle at a man during a Dec. 10 incident in a Manhattan nightclub, the Associated Press reports.
Nas (real name: Nasir Jones), 30, was reportedly with several other people in the VIP section of the Greenwich Village club Ciclo when an unidentified man approached his table and claimed the rapper had grabbed him, police said, according to AP and New York's Daily News.
A fight ensued, which was broken up by a bouncer. But as the bouncer was talking to Nas, the rapper grabbed a bottle and smashed it against the head of the unidentified man, cutting him, police said.
The unidentified victim reportedly suffered minor injuries.
Nas's label, Columbia Records, did not respond to AP's call for comment.
Nas, who feuds with fellow rapper Jay-Z in his recent release ("God's Son"), posted $7,500 bail on Wednesday and is due back in court Jan. 20.
