Luke Perry need look no further than band camp for his costar in the upcoming London West End stage adaptation of the 1989 movie "When Harry Met Sally ...": "American Pie" star Alyson Hannigan will be his Sally for the romantic comedy, Reuters reports.
While Billy Crystal and Meg Ryan originated the roles onscreen, Perry and Hannigan will take the stage starting in previews Feb. 10 at the Theater Royal, with the official opening due 10 days later. The production is scheduled for a 16-week run.
Both Hannigan, 29, and Perry, 37, are expected to be major box-office draws, Playbill Online reports. Hannigan is best known for her work as Willow on "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" as well as her part in the "American Pie" movies as the flute-toting love interest of Jason Biggs.
Perry, meanwhile, is best known for his role as bad boy Dylan on "Beverly Hills, 90210." During the summer of 2001, he played Broadway, in a revival of "The Rocky Horror Show," in the role of Brad Majors. At the time, he told PEOPLE that the strangest part of stage acting (at least for that role) was getting fitted for a bustier and corset.
"You ever worn one of those damn things?" said Perry. "Well, it ain't too comfortable. Fishnet stockings ... all of that. I am not remotely glamorous, and now I know why: It's just too much trouble."
Besides Hannigan and Perry, other recent American TV stars to try their acting chops on the West End include fellow "90210" hunk Jason Priestley and "Friends" star Matthew Perry, who both were met with mixed critical receptions. Despite that, other U.S. actors due to hit London this season are Calista Flockhart and Holly Hunter, says Playbill, adding that fellow Yank thespians are expected to follow suit.
