You can take the Boss out of Asbury Park, but you just can't take the Asbury Park out of the Boss.
Bruce Springsteen is planning a trio of holiday concerts in December to benefit the New Jersey waterfront town's local charities and nonprofits, reports Billboard. The shows, to be held Dec. 5-7, will take place at the Asbury Park Convention Hall -- a step up from legendary music club The Stone Pony -- with tickets going for $100 a pop.
The official bill features Springsteen and the Max Weinberg 7 -- the legendary E Street Band drummer's house band from NBC's "Late Night with Conan O'Brien." But longtime fans are hoping for some special guests: "Southside Johnny" Lyon is one likely suspect, and two years ago a set of similar shows drew surprise appearances from Elvis Costello and Bruce Hornsby.
Meanwhile, Boston-area Boss fans will get a special treat of their own this holiday weekend. Regional sports TV station NESN has created a 30-minute documentary around September's Springsteen sets at Boston sports landmark Fenway Park. The special, which features live performance footage of Springsteen and his E Street Band, airs Thanksgiving night.
