The weeklong series will feature eight interns already at the network who will try their hand at satisfying such obviously tyrannical bosses as Couric, Matt Lauer, Ann Curry and the svelte Al Roker.
NBC announced the new supplemental segment Tuesday, the Associated Press reports.
The program, which is slated to begin Friday, is modeled on the network's new hit "The Apprentice." The interns will be divided into teams and assigned tasks, with one participant getting the ax each day. Couric and Lauer will reportedly handle the actual "dismissals," with input from Curry and Roker.
But don't feel too bad for the participants. Only four will actually be "fired," which, in this case, means they will return to the regular assignments they already had at the network. The other four winning interns will be given special assignments with Couric, Lauer, Curry and Roker.
