The doctor's lawyer said there would be an appeal.
DELAYED: Rosie O'Donnell, 41, who has been busy with court cases and producing "Taboo" on Broadway (with neither yielding the results that she hoped for), has indefinitely postponed work on her second memoir, "Celebrity Detox," a book that was supposed to come out this summer, says her publisher, Warner Books. "She has a lot going on and thought it best to take a breather and revisit the book later," said a company publicist.
SETTLED: Harvey Keitel, 64, ended a lengthy and nasty custody fight with Lisa Karmazin over their son, Hudson, born Sept. 25, 2001, reports New York's Daily News. No terms of the settlement were disclosed, but the paper said the "Reservoir Dogs" actor had been paying Karmazin, a San Diego, Calif.-based potter, $5,000 a month in child support.
EXPELLED: The Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences, on Wednesday said it expelled a member for giving away videotapes of Oscar-hopeful movies in violation of Academy policy, reports Reuters. An Academy spokesmen declined to name the expelled member, citing an Academy board vote to keep the name confidential, but there have been reports that Carmine Caridi, 70, an L.A.-based actor who has had small parts in two of "The Godfather" movies and on TV shows like "NYPD Blue," reputedly had been loaning out screeners that allegedly ended up on the Internet.
MISSED: Jane Carter, the mother of pop singers Nick and Aaron Carter, failed to appear in court for a scheduled arraignment on a battery charge, and a bench warrant for her arrest was immediately issued, AP reports from Florida. Jane Carter was charged with attacking the girlfriend of her estranged husband, Robert Carter, last month. Sheriff's officials said she broke a window to enter her husband's home, attacked the couple while they slept, and allegedly pulled 29-year-old Ginger Elrod from the bed by her hair and beat her. A message left for Jane's publicist was not returned.
OPENED: Michael and Janet Jackson's father, Joseph Jackson, had a gala opening for his new restaurant in West Hollywood Wednesday night, but his two most famous offspring were not present, reports AP. The restaurant, which showcases Southern cooking such as collard greens and catfish, is named Katherine's -- after the Jackson family matriarch (who sat out the opening by relaxing in Vegas, said her hubby). Asked at the festivities about his daughter's infamous Super Bowl breast baring, Joe Jackson replied: "The family's fine. We're going to eat some of this food."
