Eminem's Ex Sentenced to Jail Time
Kimberly Mathers, who was sentenced to two years probation for cocaine possession on Jan. 21, was back in court Thursday after violating the conditions of her release less than a month after her hearing.
But the ex-wife of rap star Eminem (whose real name is Marshall Bruce Mathers III) appears to have stolen a page from her former husband's playbook. In a Michigan courtroom yesterday, Mathers appeared to be playing up her bad-girl image as she rolled her eyes and mouthed the words "I love you" to cameras, Detroit's WDIV reports.
Mathers admitted to cocaine use to her probation officer after taking a drug test on Jan. 29, the Associated Press reports. She was jailed after failing the test, and Circuit Court Judge Ed Sorvito sentenced Mathers to 30 days in jail, followed by 90 days at an inpatient substance-abuse program.
"You have the opportunity to address your problem," Sorvito told Mathers. "If you don't take advantage of it, well, your children may be better off without you." Mathers has one daughter, Hailie Jade, with Eminem, and reportedly had another child following her public split from the rap star in 2001.
Mathers will be credited with some nine days she has already served on her 30-day sentence, WDIV reports.
