George Foreman Jumps into Reality-TV Ring

Donald Trump isn't the only heavyweight to have his own reality show: Olympic gold-medal winner and two-time world heavyweight champ -- and electric-grill pitchman -- George Foreman is set to leap into the ring with "Rocky" star Sylvester Stallone for NBC's "The Contender."

The new show, produced by "Survivor" and "The Apprentice" pro Mark Burnett and due to premiere in January, will basically follow an "American Idol"-like format, says the Hollywood Reporter.

Some 16 fighters will vie for a $1 million boxing contract after participating in an elimination-style competition. Foreman, 55, will play an adviser and mentor to the various contenders, as will five-time champ Sugar Ray Leonard, 47, who previously was announced to star in the series with Stallone, 57.

"George will appear before these young fighters and ... answer questions about their innermost fears and secrets and dreams of what it's like to aspire to be a champion," Stallone told the Reporter.

Explaining why Foreman is right for the show, Stallone said "there are only a handful of fighters that have transferred their life from one arena to another. He's crossed the line from being a fighter to being an icon. He epitomizes how one can rise out of the ashes and rebuild himself."

Foreman also made news last week, when, after selling 50 million $29.95 electric grills, he began focusing his considerable marketing muscle on his new Comfort Zone clothing line for Casual Male Big & Tall.

Those wishing to dress like the champ can fork over $225 for a blazer, and $45 for pants (which before Foreman's name went on them were sold for $42).
