Bobby Brown Receives 'Get Out of Jail' Card

It has been a whirlwind week for Brown, who was previously serving a 60-day sentence in a Georgia jail for a probation violation. The singer was freed early from that sentence in order to make a court appearance in Massachusetts on the matter of the child support.
At issue was money he owed Kim Ward for the care of two children, ages 12 and 14, that he fathered with her.
When Brown, a Boston native, appeared in the Norfolk Probate and Family Court on Wednesday, he revealed that he could not pay the amount. Judge Paula Carey sentenced him to 90 days in jail or until he could come up with the money he owed.
Although his attorney tried to broker a payment deal for Brown, claiming that his earning power had been lessened in recent years, the judge was having none of it, and she sent Brown to the Norfolk County House of Correction.
But on Thursday Brown claimed the matter was simply a "misunderstanding." "I thought it was paid," he reportedly told the media personnel gathered outside as he left the jail. "Things happen like that when other people are dealing with your business," Brown added.
Nonetheless, Brown's legal woes are not over. He is due back in a Georgia court on May 5 to face charges of misdemeanor battery for allegedly hitting Houston during a domestic dispute.
