Episode 11 of "Survivor: All-Stars" had the unfortunate distinction of having to go head-to-head with the NBC finale of "The Apprentice" and FOX's delayed elimination round (because of President Bush's Tuesday press conference) on "American Idol."
As a result, to survive the ratings race, CBS will re-air the installment Friday night at 8 p.m., so -- spoiler alert -- those not wanting to know who got the boot should read no further.
All clear? Okay, former Mogo Mogo member Kathy Vavrick-O'Brien, the 50-year-old castaway of "Survivor: Marquesas" from Burlington, Vt.,,was voted off in a 6-2 Tribal Council decision.
"I wish I had gotten further. I wanted that million bucks so bad," she said afterwards.
Earlier, host Jeff Probst told the tribe that the Challenge would be combined for both Reward and Immunity -- and would be the most ornate and difficult obstacle course in the series' history, ranging from thickets of twigs and to balance beams. At stake: Immunity, of course, as well as a team reward of letters from home and some much-needed rain parkas, and an individual reward of hot chocolate while watching a video from a loved one.
A peek at a sample video caused a wave of tears, and more tears came during the reading of the letters. "It's just uplifting," said a sentimental Rupert Boneham, the 40-year-old castaway of "Survivor: Pearl Islands Panama" from Indianapolis. "That gives me strength. I'll read it 1,000 times in the next 11 days."
