December 23, 2003 COOKING UP NEW MUSIC
When Jennifer Lopez
co-hosted New York radio station Z100's annual Jingle Ball at Madison Square Garden recently, she appeared onstage briefly to introduce Jason Mraz, Michelle Branch
and 3 Doors Down,
but didn't perform. The singer-actress-designer also did not mention fiancÉ Ben Affleck
or their wedding, but was all smiles. She told the crowd they could expect new music from her "sometime next year. I'm going to take my time with it, let it marinate a little bit, get it real good and tasty." REALITY BITES
Comic actor Ben Stiller
required a rabies shot when he was bitten by a costar on the set of his new romantic comedy Along Came Polly.
The offender? A tiny ferret belonging to his onscreen girlfriend (played by Jennifer Aniston
). "I was holding the ferret and I had just gotten a root canal the day before, so maybe he sensed that," said Stiller, 38. "And he did this crazy turnaround thing and he literally attached himself to my chin. Their teeth are sharp like razors. They are rat-like creatures, let's face it." NON-STAR TREATMENT
How hot is New York hotspot Marquee? Even the city's social elite are sometimes left out in the cold. At the club's recent gala opening, Paris Hilton'
s parents, hotel moguls Rick and Kathy Hilton,
were forced to wait outside for the velvet rope to part. Not a big deal to average folk, but to the New York glitterati, waiting is a bit of a slap in the face. But was it snobbery, or merely disorganization? Jennifer LeRoy,
the 25-year-old heiress who owns Tavern on the Green, was forced to wait, too, and then had trouble getting a table inside. The staff even asked for her I.D. when she gave them her credit card. CAUGHT IN THE ACT Recently spotted:
