WORK OUT WITH THE STARS
One of the best places to spot celebs these days isn't a trendy club – it's at the new Sports Club/LA in Beverly Hills. The $25 million facility features a Zen-inspired Reception Lounge with bamboo gardens and waterfall; a 10,000-sq.-ft., fully equipped gym with state-of-the-art weight training equipment; and a 150-piece cardiovascular center, with each machine sporting its own personal television. No wonder the gym is a favorite workout spot for such stars as Jennifer Garner, Amanda Peet and Angela Bassett. "Michael Vartan can be found almost every morning lifting weights in the free-weight area with his headphones on," a spy tells the Daily Insider.

CAUSE CELEB
Charitable singer Celine Dion is urging Montrealers to donate money to Sainte-Justine Hospital for Children, which has suffered from recent government cutbacks. "If each one of us opens our hearts and makes a donation, our children will be the ones to benefit. And, of course, our society will too," Dion told reporters recently. The pop singer has a long history of charitable work: In 2002, she helped to raise $100 million for the hospital (an amount she hopes to match this year). She brought in millions of dollars in donations for cystic fibrosis after a niece died of the disease, and in 1996, she visited poor families in her hometown of Charlemagne, Quebec, and gave each family $100,000 – a total of $1.4 million.

WARM WELCOME
Late Night host Conan O'Brien will brave what's sure to be bitterly cold temperatures to tape his show in Toronto from Feb. 10 to 13, during sweeps. Fortunately, O'Brien is sure to get a warm reception in the Canadian city. The taping was the brainchild of Lorne Michaels, a Canadian and a mentor to O'Brien, in an attempt to boost Toronto post-SARS.

FAST TAKES
Andre 3000 of hip-hop band Outkast has a new personal clothing line in the works. "I don't have a name just yet because we are legally getting it done," he tells us, "but it will be fine clothing for fine people."

• How does Shania Twain stay slim during the holiday season? "Diet before, eat as much as you want during, and diet again after."

• Reality TV buff Kathy Griffin has a new small-screen project in the works: "I am writing a sitcom for NBC called The D List, based on my life as a D-List celebrity," she says. "It should be on next fall."

• Rapper D.M.C. (of Run-D.M.C.) will release a new solo CD this spring, featuring a duet with balladeer Sarah McLachlan. "You know how we took it with "Walk This Way" (Run-D.M.C.'s duet with Aerosmith)? I gotta do something new to take hip-hop to another level," he says. "I gotta be more innovative."
