PARTY TIME
Sunday night, Sharon Stone, Christina Applegate and husband Johnathon Schaech, Nip/Tuck star Julian McMahon, Aisha Tyler, Shannon Elizabeth and Matchbox Twenty's Rob Thomas came out to play at a Motorola soiree. Applegate got people out to dance – first she had partygoers combing the floor for her lost ring (someone found it), and later started a group doing the Electric Slide. When 'NSync's Lance Bass found himself on the dance floor during a Justin Timberlake song, he did his best impression of his gone-solo bandmate.
FESTIVAL OF LOVE
Maggie Gyllenhaal and Peter Saarsgard joined the ranks of affectionate couples at Sundance. They were spotted cuddling together on a couch at a private dinner party to celebrate Saarsgard's new movie, Garden State. Gyllenhaal, a judge at this year's Sundance, didn't want to talk about her relationship but did speak briefly about her experience at the film festival. "I've never seen three movies in a day before,'' she said. "It's interesting and exciting." From the looks of things, the relationship is, too.
WHAT'S NEW?
Benjamin Bratt was back at the festival for the first time since 1996 (with a part in the drama The Woodsman) and was able to reflect on the differences. "A lot more faux fur," he says.
MAKEUP!
If Matt Dillon was embarrassed about making several trips to the ladies' cosmetics counter at the MAC swag shop, he didn't show it. After all, that's where the pretty stylists were hanging out.
GLOBES: ALL IN THE FAMILY
Sunday night's Golden Globe Awards will be a family affair for the Douglas clan. Dad Michael will receive the Cecile B. DeMille Award recognizing "outstanding contributions to the world of entertainment," while son Cameron, 25, will spin tunes at the NBC/Access Hollywood/Target after party. "I called to congratulate (dad Michael, for his award) and he told me, 'This just means I am getting older,'" says Cameron, who put his DJ career on hold to concentrate on acting after appearing with his father (and grandfather Kirk) in last year's movie drama It Runs In The Family. Michael and Cameron also share a love of music ("My dad is more of a rock and roll guy") – and recently took in a concert together by Mick Hucknall of Simply Red at New York's Beacon Theater.
