SHOPPING WITH THE STARS
When Nicky Hilton isn't hanging with her new squeeze, actor Ian Somerhalder (Rules of Attraction), she loves to give her credit cards a workout. We recently spotted her splurging on several pairs of sexy pearl thong underwear at the trendy Gaia boutique in Brentwood. Extreme Dating host Jillian Barberie is also a customer – she popped in recently for a funky orange jacket.
Speaking of shopping: Just because supermodel Heidi Klum is rich, doesn't mean she pays full price for everything. She recently dropped $172 on a layered, round light fixture (on sale from $258) and another $704 (down from $1,320) on a donut-shaped fixture from Ylighting.com, a Web site that sells designer fixtures at a discount. The $702 she saved will help buy a lot of diapers – the 5-ft.-10-in. beauty is expecting her first baby with Italian businessman Flavio Briatore this spring.
Winona Ryder, dressed in jeans and a black-and-white pinstriped shirt, spent a recent afternoon combing through bargains at a vintage clothing sale at the Santa Monica Civic Auditorium, chatting on her cell phone the whole time. Insert your favorite Winona shopping joke here ...
LIKE MOTHER, LIKE DAUGHTER
It seems the adage "The apple doesn't fall far from the tree" holds true for Martha Stewart and her daughter, Alexis. On trial in New York City, Stewart does not leave the courthouse for lunch, which would require walking past a pack of photographers. Instead, she heads to a "war room" upstairs in the courthouse. Alexis played the perfect guest recently, bringing in homemade lemon bundt cakes for her mother's legal team.
