ANDY PLAYS SINGLES
Andy Roddick played singles at a party sponsored by SFX Sports Group recently, arriving in a limo at South Beach hot spot Prive with a group of mostly guys. The tennis star, dressed in jeans, seemed frazzled by the cameras and reporters, and was followed by an in-house security guard all night. Roddick spent most of the evening in a VIP area (where complimentary bottles of Ciroc Vodka were in abundance), leaving only a few times to talk to friends. He left the VIP area once with an unidentified blonde to visit the restrooms, and the gentlemanly Roddick waited for her to come out to walk back with her. As for the news of a reported breakup with his girlfriend of a year and a half, Mandy Moore, Roddick said simply: "I'm just trying to have a good time. I haven't been here in three months and I'm just hanging out with my friends."
SOFIA TAKES TOKYO
We spotted Sofia Coppola shopping recently at Tokyo's hip boutique Muji (that's Japanese for "no brand"). The Academy Award winner was back in Japan to host a private screening of Lost in Translation for the film's overseas production crew, and to attend the opening of another hot retailer, X Girl. The store carries Coppola's own line of clothing, Milkfed, which is available only in Japan.
CAUGHT IN THE ACT
Recently spotted:
Ja Rule, Jay-Z, Ludacris, DJ Clue, Fabolous and other members of the hip-hop elite, showing Usher some love at his album release party at New York nightspot Blvd.
Fear Factor host Joe Rogan, having cocktails with friends at New York's Hudson Hotel. Our spy says he was laid back, kind and generous, leaving a tip of more than 100 percent.
Matthew Broderick, eating dinner at Manhattan's Angus McIndoe after a performance of The Producers. He is part owner of the eatery, which is conveniently located right next door to the theater.
Reported by: JON WARECH, CYNTHIA WANG, REBECCA PALEY and SEAN DALY
