NEW DIRECT-ION
Now that David Schwimmer has wrapped up his work on Friends, he's taking some time to direct. Schwimmer has already been tapped to head up a new TV pilot called Home & Hardware, starring American Pie actress Alyson Hannigan. We hear Schwimmer will also direct the pilot episode of Never Mind Nirvana, about the culture clash that occurs when the parents of a young Indian-American doctor come to live with him and his wife, who is white. But don't give up on Schwimmer the actor just yet: He'll appear in the title role in the indie flick Duane Hopwood, with Janeane Garofalo, due next year.

SPEAKING OF FRIENDS ...
The show is finished taping, but that doesn't stop Jennifer Aniston and pregnant Courteney Cox from getting together for salads at Il Sole in L.A. Meanwhile Lisa Kudrow was spotted at breakfast with Conan O'Brien, his wife, Liza, and their 6-month-old daughter, Neve.

FAST TAKES
Charlie Sheen has converted his home office into a nursery for Sam, his 3-week-old daughter with wife Denise Richards. Gone is the all-black decor; enter pink walls and mermaid embroidery. "It's a girly room for sure," says designer Wendy Bellissimo. ... "I have no boyfriend right now," says Nicky Hilton, who is designing hair products for Scunci. ... Spotted: the British posse of Elizabeth Hurley, Sharon Osbourne and Sir Elton John at Mr. Chow in Beverly Hills. ... Rachael Leigh Cook is keeping her August wedding to actor Daniel Gillies "small and intimate" and has decided against a registry. "We don't need anything," she says. Just each other.

BACK IN THE SADDLE?
Despite three messy divorces, Roseanne Barr says she has not ruled out taking another trip down the aisle, "if anyone will have me." Of course there will be a few different rules next time. For starters: no more actors. "They are all girls," says the outspoken comic, who was wed from 1990-94 to her Roseanne costar Tom Arnold. "I don't want to be with a girl. I want to be with a man." Next up for Barr (who is dating composer Johnny Argent): She's the voice of Maggie the Cow in Disney's animated feature Home on the Range, opening Friday.
