David Arquette stars alongside rapper DMX in the new film Never Die Alone, and he appears in the Showtime original movie Stealing Sinatra, airing April 25. But his most important role is coming in July – that of father. With wife Courteney Cox, 39, due to deliver this summer, the star couple are preparing their house for the arrival while keeping up the teamwork on productions such as Mix It Up, their home-decorating show on the Women's Entertainment network.
Arquette, 32, recently talked to reporters about preparing for fatherhood and getting rid of junk to make room for baby.
Are you and Courteney decorating the nursery yet?
A little bit. Yes.
How has impending fatherhood changed your life?
I have to make room for the baby, so I've been trying to get rid of things. I have tons of collections, books. Some of the toys actually can be recycled and played with.
So what are you getting rid of, exactly?
I have a lot of giant things, like a giant toothbrush and toothpaste. I just don't know if that can stay. I know, it's crazy. I don't understand it either. Most of my stuff is swap-meet stuff.
Are you a big swap-meet guy?
I like them, but I think I'm pretty much banned from going there.
Courteney banned you?
No, no, personal ban. I've got a self-imposed restriction on buying junk. Because I just don't have any more room, and we have a baby coming.
Will you be there with a video camera in the delivery room?
I don't think there will be photographs. I don't know. When you're a celebrity, certain things just aren't appropriate.
