Marcia Gay Harden Welcomes Babies

It's a double delivery for Marcia Gay Harden: The Pollock Oscar winner and husband Thaddaeus Scheel have welcomed the birth of twins, a boy and a girl, her publicist confirms to PEOPLE.

Hudson Harden Scheel and Julitta Dee Harden Scheel were born Thursday in New York. No other details were immediately available.

Harden, 44, and her filmmaker husband, 39, already have one child together, 5-year-old daughter Eulala Grace.

Earlier this year, Harden wore a Badgley Mischka maternity gown and 4-in.-high heels to the Oscars, where she was nominated for Best Supporting Actress for Clint Eastwood's Mystic River. (Harden also recently starred in Mona Lisa Smile and Casa de los Babys.)

During Oscar season, Harden told PEOPLE that the babies were able to hear all the commotion on the red carpets. "The more people yell, the more the babies move. They're not insulated in there," she said. "They hear sounds, but it's very distant."

The baby news comes after Harden's family endured a tragic loss in 2003. In December, Harden's brother's ex-wife and children (a 10-year-old girl and 6-year-old boy) died following a fire at their family's New York City apartment.
