Jason Patric Cleared of All Texas Charges

Charges of public intoxication and resisting arrest have been dropped against actor Jason Patric following his arrest in March while he was in Austin, Texas, promoting The Alamo.

Travis County Attorney David Escamilla apparently reviewed the evidence in the case and determined that Patric's actions didn't constitute resisting arrest under Texas law.

"Merely retracting your arm or some other similar uncooperative action won't suffice to support a conviction," Escamilla told the Austin American-Statesman newspaper.

Last week, the city attorney's office also dropped Patric's public intoxication charge stemming from that same arrest. This leaves the 37-year-old actor (who also starred in The Lost Boys and Speed 2: Cruise Control) free of all charges, the Associated Press reports.

"Mr. Patric is extremely pleased and feels vindicated," Patric's publicist, Michelle Bega, said Monday. "He is now consulting with legal counsel to consider his next step regarding his arrest, imprisonment and treatment at the hands of the Austin Police Department."

Sounding a bit vengeful, Patric -- who played Jim Bowie in The Alamo, which tanked at the box office -- said in a statement released by Bega: "I am really looking forward to going back to Austin and taking care of business."
