It's official: Britain's often stodgy Prince Charles is really "cool, very cool."

Those were the words of Jay-Z on Friday in London, according to the Associated Press and British news sources, all of whom seem to be getting a kick out of the two contrasting personalities getting along so well.

Turns out, both men run similar types of charities. The historic hookup took place at a rehearsal in anticipation of this weekend's Urban Music Festival, sponsored by the Prince's Trust, which is expected to attract a crowd of 30,000 people. Headliners include Jay-Z, Beyonce, Alicia Keys, Dizzee Rascal, Lemar, The Streets, Amy Winehouse and Big Brovaz.

Charles, 55, told the press, "I'm not very familiar with the urban scene, but I do like some of the music." He also joked, "I'm getting past my sell-by date."

Jay-Z (real name: Shawn Carter), 33, meanwhile, praised the prince's work helping disadvantaged young people, saying, "For someone so high up to help kids and give them a second chance in life is a beautiful thing."

The hip-hop artist also said that he runs a similar charity to the Prince's Trust at home.

"I was a young kid in a tough neighborhood," Jay-Z said during a break in rehearsals. "If something like the Prince's Trust had been available to me, I absolutely would have used it."
