Jessica Tunes Up for U.S. Summer Tour
ANNOUNCED: Jessica Simpson, 23, will kick off her Reality Tour on June 4 in New Orleans and continue with stops across the country, including New York, Chicago and her hometown of Dallas. The gig will end Aug. 1 in Paso Robles, Calif. The concert tour will be her first since the success of her MTV series, Newlyweds: Nick & Jessica, with husband Nick Lachey.
BORN: Peri Gilpin, 41, and her husband, artist Christian Vincent, became parents to twin girls, born via a surrogate last Friday, according to reports. On Thursday, Gilpin will appear in the Frasier finale (she plays radio sidekick Roz) as the sitcom calls it a day after 11 years. And her next work project? "Whatever I do has to be really good because it will follow in Frasier's footsteps," Gilpin told PEOPLE. For now, besides motherhood, there's voiceover work: "It's fun."
COMPLETED: Former President Bill Clinton, 57, has finished his long-awaited memoir, My Life, expected to go on sale late next month. "It's about 900 pages, and there is still some editing to be done," said Paul Bogaards, spokesman for publisher Alfred A. Knopf. Clinton reportedly was paid a record $12 million for the book, which will be get an initial printing of 1.5 million copies.
SPLIT: Actor Michael Rapaport (Boston Public, The 6th Day), 34, has separated from his wife of four years, Nicole, due to irreconcilable differences, reports Entertainment Tonight. The two plan to share joint custody of their two sons.
DIED: John Whitehead, 55, the R&B artist best known for his 1979 hit song Ain't No Stoppin' Us Now, was fatally shot Tuesday by two gunmen who fled immediately afterward, said police, who had no immediate suspects or motive, according to the Associated Press. "Why did they do this to my dad?" Dawn Whitehead, 33, asked at the scene. "I just talked to him yesterday ... He was a fun person. Who would want to kill him?"
BUSTED: Comedian Andy Dick, 38, was arrested on a misdemeanor charge of marijuana possession May 2 while attending the Coachella music festival in Indio, Calif., police tell the Smoking Gun Web site. He is scheduled to appear in Riverside County Superior Court on June 16.
DECLARED: John Ramsey, father of the slain 6-year-old JonBenet Ramsey (whose murder was never solved), has announced he's running for a seat in the Michigan Statehouse. He says his daughter's death has provided him with "a platform" to run. On Wednesday's "Today" show, he also said his wife, Patsy, has a reccurrence of ovarian cancer, but it need not be thought of as fatal.
GATHERED: The 57th Cannes Film Festival kicks off Wednesday night in the South of France with the premiere of Spanish director Pedro Almodovar's Bad Education. Among the stars due to attend over the next 11 days are Charlize Theron, Tom Hanks and Brad Pitt, who will be promoting Troy.
