The summer awards season has officially arrived, even if summer officially hasn't.
Lindsay Lohan is set to host the June 5 MTV Movie Awards in California, while Hugh Jackman will emcee Broadway's Tonys the next night from New York – and with them come plenty of A-list presenters.
So far, The Rock has muscled into the MTV event, as have Ashton Kutcher, Kate Beckinsale and Vin Diesel. They join the previously announced guests Ice Cube, Matthew Perry, Queen Latifah, Mark Ruffalo, Jessica Biel, Marlon Wayans, Shawn Wayans, Sharon Stone, Halle Berry, Kirsten Dunst, Eve, Jimmy Fallon, Kate Hudson, Scarlett Johannson, Shia LaBeouf, Tobey Maguire and Snoop Dogg.
Musical performances on the soundstage of the Sony Pictures Studios in Culver City include D12, the Beastie Boys and the Yeah Yeah Yeahs.
Johnny Depp's swishy swashbuckler Jack Sparrow and his Pirates of the Caribbean crew lead the charge into the ceremony with six nominations, including best movie, best actor and best villain (Geoffrey Rush). The ceremony airs on the network June 10.
For Broadway's night of nights, Jackman, who's a frontrunner for the Tony as best actor in a musical (The Boy from Oz), will share the Radio City Music Hall stage with presenters Sean Combs, Nicole Kidman, Ethan Hawke, Taye Diggs, Anne Heche, Sarah Jessica Parker, Nathan Lane, LL Cool J, Bernadette Peters and, fresh from the MTV Movie Awards, Scarlett Johannson.
The Manhattan event, which will also feature Mary J. Blige's singing "What I Did for Love" (from A Chorus Line), will be broadcast live on CBS.
The musical Wicked, a prequel to The Wizard of Oz, leads the list of nominees, with 10.
