Jessica Simpson's Lawsuit Moves Forward

SWITCHED: Jessica Simpson's breach of contract lawsuit against New Jersey producer-promoter Mike Zaccaro, whom she claims owes her $140,000 plus interest and legal fees, has been moved to a New York state court (she'd filed it in federal court in April), reports the Associated Press. The suit says Simpson, 23, agreed to perform for an hour on Oct. 23, 2003, at the Grand Prix of Puerto Rico. She also agreed to wear a T-shirt imprinted with the logo "MOTOROCK," an auto racing company, while filming a music video. But on Oct. 10, court papers say, the producers canceled the performance and haven't paid Simpson a penny.
SET: American Idol runner-up Diana DeGarmo, 16, plans to release a single on June 22 through RCA Records, according to the label's Web site. Idol winner Fantasia Barrino, 19, also reportedly is working on her first single, which is due out June 15. She and DeGarmo both performed the song, titled "I Believe," during last week's finale.
BORN: Comedian Chris Rock, 39, and his wife, Malaak, 35, a non-profit executive, welcomed their second child, daughter Zahra Savannah, May 22 in Brooklyn. The tot joins sister Lola, who turns 2 this month, reports PEOPLE. ... Model Veronica Webb, 39, and her husband of two years, philanthropist George E. Robb Jr., 48, also had their second daughter. Molly Blue made her debut May 21 in Manhattan. Her big sister is Layla Rose, 18 months. ... Actors Casey Affleck (Ocean's Eleven), 28, and Summer Phoenix (The Laramie Project), 26, welcomed their first child, a son, on May 31 in Amsterdam. The couple became engaged several months ago.
SUED: Actress Lisa Marie, 35, sued her former fiancé, director Tim Burton, 45, for more than $5 million on May 25 in New York City, reports PEOPLE. Marie, who dated Burton for 10 years before he left her for Helena Bonham Carter while they were all working on 2001's Planet of the Apes, alleges that Burton misled her into a settlement that gave her far less than she was entitled to under California palimony law. A rep for Burton called the claims "baseless."
WED: Former Saturday Night Live star Molly Shannon, 39, married artist Fritz Chesnut in a private ceremony Saturday at the Four Seasons Hotel in Santa Barbara, AP reports. The couple has an 8-month-old daughter, Stella Shannon Chesnut.
BUSTED: Former Family Ties star Brian Bonsall (who played Andy Keaton) was arrested Friday in his hometown of Boulder, Colo., on suspicion of drunken driving. He was convicted of drunken driving in 2001 and his license was suspended. Bonsall, now 22, told the Denver Post he regrets this latest incident. "I'm sorry I did it," he said. "It was a mistake."
