Seacrest Criticizes His Pal, Simon Cowell | Ryan Seacrest
All season on American Idol, host Ryan Seacrest and judge Simon Cowell razzed one another, good-naturedly, it seemed.

But now that he's free of Cowell – until the next go-round, at least – a brave Seacrest is getting a lot of feelings about his costar off his chest, although he's expressing them an entire world away.

Speaking to the Straits Times newspaper in Singapore, where a local version of AI is planned, Seacrest called Simon Cowell arrogant, pompous and "too harsh" with his remarks.

Conversely, Seacrest added that Cowell is a good friend and the "most honest" of the show's judicial trio (which also includes Paula Abdul and Randy Jackson).

"I think that he's pompous. I think that he's arrogant. So my feelings about him, and the way that I address him on air, are very real," Seacrest is quoted as saying.

"I think he says things that are at times a bit too harsh and could probably convey them in a different light so that they don't crush a young person's dream," Seacrest said.

As for the future of the seemingly unstoppable FOX talent hunt, Seacrest said the show "will certainly be on air for the next few years. There's no telling what will happen after that but as long as people are watching it, then we should make the show."

On home shores, Seacrest has closed a deal to host and executive produce a new music awards show for FOX next year, American Top 40 Awards, an extension of Premiere Radio Networks' American Top 40, Seacrest’s syndicated radio show, says the Hollywood Reporter.
