More Paris As FOX Launches Reality Channel | The Simple Life 2: Road Trip
Already accused of scooping its rivals in the reality game, FOX TV has announced that early next year it will launch an all-reality channel with a mix of original series and reruns of series like Joe Millionaire and Temptation Island.

The FOX Reality Channel will not be alone in the format, however. The Associated Press reports that in addition, there will be Reality Central (set to begin later this year), and Reality TV (which airs only on the Dish Network).

The New York Post (which, like the FOX network, is owned by Rupert Murdoch's News America Corp.), reports that outtakes from such hit FOX reality shows as American Idol and The Simple Life, which stars Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie, will find their way to the new reality sister channel.

AP reports that the FOX Reality Channel will concentrate on the competitive games and romantic reality shows.

"It was never so much a question of whether we might take this next step and launch a dedicated reality channel," Anthony Vinciquerra, FOX Networks Group president, tells AP. "It was only a matter of when."

Meanwhile, the operators of Reality Central accuse FOX of taking their idea and running with it.

"When you get a validation from one of the big media conglomerates, it's flattering," said Larry Namer, head of Reality Central and a founder of the E! Entertainment network.

Vinciquerra, however, laughed off Namer's comment, saying that a FOX Reality Channel has been in the works for more than two years.
