"The release of this information," district attorney Mark Hurlbert argued in his court filing, will "impact the ability of the prosecution to obtain a fair jury at this time."
The request comes one day after Bryant's alleged victim filed a separate civil lawsuit against him seeking monetary damages of at least $75,000 – which some legal analysts say reveal the financial motivations behind a case against Bryant.
There is no word on when Judge W. Terry Ruckriegle might answer the request for the trial delay. A gag order exists in the case, which prosecutors also claim is working against the accuser, due to the accidental revelation of her sexual history.
Bryant, 25, is accused of sexually assaulting the 20-year-old woman last summer at a hotel near Vail. He has pleaded not guilty and said that the two had consensual sex.
Jury selection in the criminal case is scheduled to begin Aug. 27.
