David Schwimmer Makes Directorial Debut
David Schwimmer has found some new Friends to hang out with. The 37-year-old actor is getting ready to make his directorial debut on the independent romantic comedy Run, Fat Boy, Run, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

Although this will be his first film, Schwimmer gained experience as director on 10 episodes of Friends. The erstwhile Ross Gellar also is in line to direct episodes of the Friends spinoff Joey, featuring his former costar Matt LeBlanc.

Fat Boy is the story of an overweight guy who leaves his girlfriend at the altar, only to discover years later that he really loves her. In order to win her back, he has to run the New York City marathon and convince his former love to take him back.

"I've been waiting for the right feature comedy to direct," Schwimmer said. He called the script "too funny and smart to put down."

The movie is expected to start filming next spring. In the meantime, Schwimmer has not given up acting: He will next star in the indie drama Duane Hopwood.
