Charlize Theron is back in Southern California and resting after getting hurt earlier this week on the Berlin set of her new sci-fi film, Aeon Flux.

And it turns out the injury involved the Oscar winner's neck, according the Hollywood Reporter. Theron, 29, who was hurt while performing her own stunts on a trampoline, reportedly was taken to a hospital for examination and returned to California on Tuesday to consult with her personal physicians.

"She's resting and hopes to be back to work soon," said her L.A.-based publicist Amanda Silverman.

The delay in filming on Aeon Flux could affect Theron's next project, Class Action, scheduled to begin production early next year.

Meantime, there's still no word on when shooting will resume on Flux, which is based on Peter Chung's futuristic MTV animated series and costars Frances McDormand, Marton Csokas and Jonny Lee Miller.

Theron had slimmed down, pumped up (with four-hour-a-day workouts) and dyed her hair black for the role as the sexy title character Aeon Flux – a futuristic assassin who is sent on a mission to kill a government leader.

Injury or no, the South African beauty will be seen next in Head in the Clouds, a World War II romance opening Sept. 17 and costarring her off-screen boyfriend, Stuart Townsend.
