Knoxville, Scott the New Dukes of Hazzard
Seann William Scott
Jessica Simpson is still jockeying to become America's favorite rural babe. But for now, Warner Bros. has put up its Dukes: Johnny Knoxville and Seann William Scott have just been cast, respectively, as Luke and Bo Duke, those fast-drivin' good ol' boys, in the big-screen adaptation of the 1979-85 The Dukes of Hazzard TV series, PEOPLE reports in its latest issue.
And while the role of Daisy Duke is not yet hers, Simpson dressed the part in a denim miniskirt when she showed up on the studio lot in Burbank Sept. 1 to meet the pair.
The Newlyweds star, 24, endured some good-natured teasing from Scott, who "pretended he didn't know she was married," says a source. As for Boss Hogg, Burt Reynolds is emerging as the top choice.
On the old show, Tom Wopat and John Schneider played Luke and Bo Duke, Catherine Bach played Daisy, and Sorrell Booke, who died in 1994, was Boss.
As for Simpson, she's due to appear on the NFL kickoff show Thursday, while her latest music video, "Angels," is currently in post-production. According to reports, the video places the star against a variety of romantic settings, including an empty theater and a dimly lit city street.
The finale takes place on an urban rooftop, where Simpson performs in a sheer white dress accompanied by a sumptuous string section.
