It's here: Britney Spears's cover of Bobby Brown's "My Prerogative" has arrived, courtesy of a new mixtape from Real Tapemasters Inc., The Future of R&B, reports MTV News.
Spears's "Prerogative" single crops up as track 12 and is less bass-heavy than Brown's original rendition but otherwise faithful to the way he delivered it, except for switching some nouns to accommodate a woman singing it rather than a man.
A sample of the lyrics: "They say I'm crazy, I really don't care, that's my prerogative/ They say I'm nasty, but I don't give a damn/ Getting boys is how I live/ Some ask me questions, why am I so real?/ But they don't understand me, or really don't know the deal/ About a sista trying hard to make it right."
Spears's Greatest Hits: My Prerogative CD is due Nov. 16, with the "Prerogative" video set to start airing next week.
At the beginning of the video, her brother, Bryan, makes a brief appearance, according to Britney and Bryan's mother Lynne Spears, who on her daughter's Web site refers to Bryan as "that good-looking hunk of a son of mine."
Also on the video: Britney and fiance Kevin Federline will be seen tying the knot – though there's still no word on the real date for their wedding.
