Day reportedly told the Post that she and David Vernon, her husband, called it quits after she returned from the filming of the show's second season. However, she denied rumors that her appearance on the show led to the couple's split.
"The show did not break us up or anything like that," Day said. "As the show was approaching, we both were getting concerned that maybe it was time to call it quits."
The two, who met while attending the University of Pennsylvania, were married for five years.
"It takes more than a couple weeks of taping a reality show to break up such a long relationship," Day told the paper.
The Apprentice airs Thursdays on NBC.
