After moving to L.A. for two months for the UPN reality show Amish in the City, the show's five young Amish had to decide whether to return to their country homes or leave their community behind. They announced their decisions on the show's Sept. 21 finale, which was taped in July. Here's what they've done since then.
Jonas, 18: Undecided
"I know people who've been gone for ten years and come back," he says. Jonas now works construction in Florida. Change? "I know a little more about fashion," he says, "but I'm still me."
Ruth, 20: The City
"I'm dreading it," Ruth says of telling her parents her decision. She hopes to pursue a nursing degree and is living with her boyfriend in Ohio, working at a factory and painting apartments.
Randy, 24: The City
"I like cars better than buggies," says Randy, who is currently doing construction work in Florida with Jonas, and now owns a Honda Accord. "I'm staying in the city. In like 50 years I'm gonna go back."
Miriam, 22: The City
After taping ended Miriam returned to her family, then decided to go back out on her own. She's now a waitress in Ohio and is studying for the SATs. Her biggest step: "I wear heels!"
Mose, 25: Undecided
Mose has been working construction in Missouri, but says he's leaning towards going back to the Amish. A telling sign that he's dropped his city sense: "The mullet is back," he laughs.
