Jake: Voting Better Than Sex?
Eat Like a Pop Star
Britney Spears's mom, Lynne, tells us she's contributing her recipe for seafood pasta to an upcoming cookbook, Star Palate. "It's one of Britney's favorite recipes," says Lynne. "I make it every time Britney comes home." No word on whether she made it when Brit and new hubby Kevin Federline honeymooned in the singer's Kentwood, La., hometown recently. Proceeds from the sale of the book will benefit the Breast Cancer Foundation in New York and the Marsha Rivkin Center for Ovarian Cancer Research in Seattle.
We got a few precious moments with Chris Isaak in Chicago recently while the crooner was filming a Christmas special (airing Dec. 2) and a greatest-hits special for the PBS series Soundstage (airing in 2005). The singer, whose album Chris Isaak Christmas is due out Oct. 12, had this to say about the presidential debates: "I think (the candidates) should be able to ask direct questions (to each other) during the debate. I think at one point they should do some mud-wrestling too." And he should know – turns out Isaak competed on his high school's debate team, called the National Forensic League, or NFL. Wearing his NFL pin to school made him an easy target, he says: "It was embarrassing. I was this scrawny, 132-lb. kid with an NFL pin. People were like, 'What? Is your dad in the NFL?'"
The Hard Part
Station Agent star Peter Dinklage has taken his act to the stage, appearing in the title role in Shakespeare's Richard III in New York this month. We wanted to know: With all the rehearsing, does he find "thy" and "thou" slipping into his regular conversation? "No, because knowing my friends, they'd just make fun of me," he tells us. "So I try to keep that reined in. But I do pronounce my consonants a lot more." As for the role itself, he says, "This is the most work I've ever done as an actor. It's physically demanding. You rehearse all day and then it's a three-hour play and I'm covered in blood and sweat by the end of it." Luckily, he clarified: "Fake blood, real sweat." Dinklage will be back on the big screen next year in The Baxter, with former Dawson's Creek star (and Station Agent costar) Michelle Williams.
