Ozzy Osbourne's House Burglarized
BURGLARIZED: Ozzy Osbourne's mansion outside London was burglarized by two men on Monday, authorities said. The burglars, who used a ladder to enter a second-floor room, took a "large amount of jewelry" from the reality TV star's home, the Associated Press reports. One of the home's residents – whom police reports only described as "a man" – grabbed one of the burglars, but the intruder got free and jumped out of a 30-foot-high window. Police said the burglar was likely hurt, but he managed to escape.
RELEASED: Actor Vincent D'Onofrio was released from a New York hospital Friday after being treated for exhaustion, the Associated Press reports. The star of Law & Order: Criminal Intent was first hospitalized after he fainted Nov. 10 following a strenuous scene he was shooting for the cop-and-courts drama. D'Onofrio was quickly released, but he fainted again at his home on Nov. 15 and returned to the hospital for more tests. No health problems beyond exhaustion were detected.
AILING: Fashion commentator (and former PEOPLE staffer) Steven Cojocaru, 42, revealed Monday that due to a genetic condition, he's going to require a kidney transplant operation. He suffers from polycystic kidney disease, which causes cysts to grow in the kidneys, diminishing functioning tissue. Cojocaru was diagnosed with the condition during a routine physical. The fashion guru is expected to continue his work as on Entertainment Tonight and The Insider. Cojocaru is expected to make a full recovery. "Steven will live a normal life after the transplant," Cojocaru's physician, Dr. Stanley Jordan of Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, told ET. He is coming to us in a very good state because he has been on a very healthy diet already."
DIED: Terry Melcher, a songwriter and composer best known for his work with the Beach Boys and his hand in shaping the 1960s California surf sound, died Friday, Reuters reports. The 62-year-old Melcher succumbed after a long battle with cancer, his publicist told reporters. The son of actress-singer Doris Day, Melcher worked with such artists as the Byrds, the Mamas and the Papas, Glen Campbell and many others. He also co-wrote the Beach Boys' 1988 hit "Kokomo," which was featured in the movie "Cocktail."
DIAGNOSED: It will be three more years of therapy for Dr. Phil. That's the diagnosis for the popular daytime TV psychologist, whose show was renewed through the 2008-09 season, Reuters reports. The show, which debuted in 2002, is seen in almost every market in the United States, and has posted the highest talk-show ratings since The Oprah Winfrey Show appeared in 1986.
TOPPED: It's no mystery for William Petersen, Marg Helgenberger and the rest of the CSI: Crime Scene Investigation crew. After reaching its 100th-episode mark on Thursday, the popular forensic whodunit drew more than 31 million viewers, matching an all-time high that the show first hit in February.
REUNITED: More than a week after losing his pet wallaroo and pet goat, former rap star Vanilla Ice (real name: Robert van Winkle) is expected to be reunited with the animals this week. The goat, named Pancho, and the wallaroo – a cross between a wallaby and a kangaroo – named Bucky Buckaroo, escaped from a relative's backyard and were lose in southeast Florida's St. Lucie County for several days, the Associated Press reports. The animals were captured Nov. 13, but Vanilla Ice was out of town and not immediately able to claim them. He will likely have to pay a fine to have them returned.
SURRENDERED: Rapper Young Buck, whose real name is David Darnell Brown, surrendered to authorities in Santa Monica, Calif., where he was arrested for investigation of attempted murder and assault with a deadly weapon, AP reports. Brown is charged in the Nov. 15 stabbing that occurred when a fight broke out during the taping of the Vibe Awards at the Santa Monica airport. Brown was released on bail and will be arraigned Dec. 20.
