The jewelry stolen from Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne Monday is valued at more $3.5 million – but it isn't the money that's bothering the couple, it's the sentimental value of the items.

"People say they can afford it. It's the sentiment, you can't buy sentiment," Ozzy tells PEOPLE. "I'm just coming to grips with what happened. Funnily enough, I feel worse about it today than I did yesterday."

At a news conference Tuesday, the couple said nine items had been taken, among them wedding rings, watches, a rare 24-carat sapphire and a diamond necklace Ozzy gave to Sharon 20 years ago.

Sharon showed reporters pictures of the items that were taken, some of which were actually lifted right from the couple's bedside table as they slept. She also lost her weddings rings, which Ozzy had given her several years ago after the couple renewed their vows. "I wish I had kept my wedding ring on while I was asleep. But I put it next to me on my bedside table," she tells PEOPLE.

The pair is offering £100,000 – more than $185,000 – for the return of jewelry stolen by two thieves from the couple's country mansion in Buckinghamshire in the early hours of the morning Monday. During the 4 a.m. break-in, Ozzy grappled with one of the intruders who eventually escaped out a window.

The Osbournes also blasted crime in England, telling reporters that they had lived in Los Angeles a long time and never had such problems. "We've spent a lot of time in America where we could have been mugged, shot or murdered," Ozzy said. "We've been over here a couple of months and all this has happened."

The incident caps an extremely bad run of luck for the Osbournes. Ozzy was almost fatally injured in a wreck on an all-terrain vehicle last year, and Sharon recently recovered from cancer.
