Bruce Willis Offers Land for Local Airport

The offer was unexpected, Airport Authority Chairwoman Mary Ann Mix tells the Associated Press, which reports that Willis, 49, sat quietly in the back of the room throughout Tuesday's gathering before presenting his plan. Loud applause followed what he had to say – including the fact that the current airport concerns him from a safety standpoint.
He is not the only one. The Airport Authority has been trying to upgrade its facilities for the past decade to meet stricter Federal Aviation Administration standards for larger, faster aircraft.
"Bruce is a fabulously decent man – always very concerned about what's good for his community," Mix said. "The issues with the airport being what they are, it's time to think about moving it."
Airport Manager Rick Baird said aviation experts and airport staff will soon examine in detail the ownership of all the property at each of the potential sites, of which there are three, before suggestions are made to a special site selection advisory committee. Building a new airport is expected to take 10 years.
