Anna Nicole Smith is about to have her day in court. Another day in court, that is – and in the highest court of the land.
The U.S. Supreme Court said on Tuesday that it would hear the appeal of the former Playboy model and reality TV star in her case to restore a judge's award of $88.6 million from the estate of her elderly billionaire husband, J. Howard Marshall, the Associated Press reports.
The justices will hear arguments in the case most likely in January, with a decision due by the end of the court term in June 2006.
Smith was 26 when she married the 89-year-old oil tycoon in 1994. He died a year later, leaving behind an estate of $1.6 billion – and igniting a long legal battle between Smith and her husband's son, E. Pierce Marshall.
