Jessica 'Doing Okay' After Split

Jessica Simpson plans to spend her first Christmas since splitting from husband Nick Lachey with her parents and sister in Hawaii, PEOPLE has learned.

As for how she's faring after filing for divorce on Friday, "She's doing okay," a source close to Simpson tells PEOPLE. "She is emotional, and as upsetting as this is, she knows she made the right decision."

Though the couple announced their split last month after three years of marriage, the source says that Simpson and Lachey got together on Friday for a short time. "He came over to her parent's house. They spent a little time together and they said their goodbyes."

In other words, don't expect a reconciliation. "The fact that she filed tells you that it's going to be over. It wasn't something she took lightly," the source says. "Friday was an emotional day. As far as people saying it's going to get nasty, if it were, I don't think they would spend an hour and a half together like they did."

Since their split, Simpson has been staying at her parents' house in L.A. while Lachey remains at the couple's Calabasas, Calif., home.

Meanwhile, Lachey has hired Los Angeles-based attorney Laura Wasser. "He was hoping for the best, but as time went by, he was prepared for what became inevitable," a source close to him tells PEOPLE.
