More than 2,000 items that once belonged to Elvis Presley are being removed from the Graceland archives in order to be placed on a charity auction block in October, reports The New York Times. Among the Elvisiana: furniture, his Army fatigues, an ivory-colored wool cape with a depiction of an American eagle (and rhinestones), a vintage yellow Cadillac station wagon with wood-grain panels, his publishing contract for "Heartbreak Hotel" and letters from Marilyn Monroe, Frank Sinatra, Marlon Brando and President Kennedy. To be held at Las Vegas's MGM Grand Hotel over three or four days (and conducted by Manhattan's Guernsey's auction house), the sale will raise money for housing in Memphis for homeless families.
