In marital news of a different sort, actress Marla Maples and New York developer Donald Trump were granted their divorce Tuesday on the grounds that the two had lived apart for more than a year, a valid reason under New York law, said Maples's lawyer, William Beslow. Trump, 52, filed for divorce from Maples, 35, three months after they separated in mid-1997. The proceedings stalled when Maples decided to fight a prenuptial agreement that gave her about $2 million in the event of a divorce. She threw in the towel last week, whereupon a judge signed the divorce decree.
- Maples's $2 million settlement was a far cry from the more than $25 million settlement that Trump's first wife, Ivana, received when she and Trump divorced after nearly 15 years of marriage.
