The cashmere overcoat worn by John Lennon at the height of Beatlemania has been sold at auction in London for nearly $7,500. The navy blue Crombie-style coat, believed to be the first Beatles garment that has come up for sale, is decorated with velvet-trimmed collars and cuffs and was worn by Lennon from 1964 to '65. It has "John Winston Lennon" and "his coat" scribbled on the inner lining, along with a doodle of the singer's trademark round eyeglasses. The coat was purchased on Tuesday by Larry Castle, an antiques dealer from Hallatrow, England.
