Robert Downey Jr., who faces possible felony drug charges from a Thanksgiving weekend arrest, reportedly checked himself into the psychiatric unit of Cedars Sinai Medical Center on Friday and was released Sunday, "Entertainment Tonight" and "Access Hollywood" reported last night. The "Ally McBeal" actor, 35, was treated for depression, the TV shows said. When contacted by the Associated Press, Downey's spokesman, Alan Nierob, declined comment on the reports. Reuters, meanwhile, said that director Joe Roth is seeking to replace Downey in the upcoming movie "America's Sweethearts," costarring Julia Roberts, Billy Crystal and Catherine Zeta-Jones. Shooting is scheduled to begin on Jan. 10. On Dec. 27, Downey is slated to return to court to face the charges from his Nov. 25 drug bust in a Palm Springs hotel room, where police allegedly found cocaine and methamphetamine.
