In possibly the final celebrity wedding of 2000, "Almost Famous" Golden Globe nominee and one of PEOPLE's Most Beautiful People in the World for 1999, Kate Hudson, 21, married Chris Robinson, 34, the lead singer of the Atlanta-based Black Crowes, on New Year's Eve. The event took place at the Aspen, Colo., ranch of Hudson's mom, Goldie Hawn, and Hawn's longtime companion, Kurt Russell, Hudson's publicist, Brad Cafarelli, told Reuters. The reception, which ran until about 3 a.m. in the new year, was said to have been held at Aspen's Elk Mountain Lodge. The newlyweds have been together for about a year. Robinson's ex-wife, Lala Sloatman, has told interviewers that Robinson has "a very dark, sad side," notes New York's Daily News, which also quotes Cafarelli as denying stories that Hawn and Russell were cool to the rocker. At the wedding, Hudson, Hawn and maid of honor Dyani Redclay (a friend of Hudson's) wore Vera Wang gowns, while the groom, his brother Rich Robinson (who served as best man) and Russell sported Brioni suits, according to Cafarelli. Hudson's gown contained a corseted bodice and large full skirt, reflecting the event's romantic 19th century atmosphere. The number of wedding guests was about 70, said Cafarelli, and Russell (whom Hudson refers to as her father, PEOPLE has reported) gave the bride away. The bride's estranged natural father, singer-comic Bill Hudson, was not present, said Cafarelli.
