Standup comic Charles Fleischer, 50, who hasn't been heard all that much onscreen since his flashy turn as the voice of the title character in 1988's "Who Framed Roger Rabbit," has been announced to serve as the host of the 51st annual American Cinema Editors "Eddie" awards on Feb. 25. (Besides playing Bob Hoskins's hyper-active pal in that Steven Spielberg-produced feature, Fleischer also appeared in the movies "Dick Tracy" and "Back to the Future, Part II," and, notes Variety, most recently had a regular gig on the Discovery Channel's "Next Step.") At the Eddies ceremony, director Robert Zemeckis, who did "Roger Rabbit," "Back to the Future" and the current "Cast Away," is scheduled to receive the ACE filmmaker of the year award. Spielberg is slated to present it to him.
