Oscar-winning actress Kim Basinger and actor Alec Baldwin, who wed on Aug. 19, 1993 (after making "The Marrying Man"), filed for divorce in Los Angeles on Friday, both citing irreconcilable differences, Basinger's spokeswoman, Annette Wolf, has confirmed. The couple has a 5-year-old daughter, named Ireland. Wolf told reporters that Basinger is requesting that she and Baldwin share custody of the child, but that Ireland continue to live with her mother in Los Angeles. The Baldwins also maintained a residence in New York and were a high-profile couple in the Hamptons. (Baldwin, a Democratic political activist, hails from Long Island, N.Y.) "Kim," Wolf was quoted in New York's Daily News' Saturday edition, "spent the holidays in (her native) Georgia with her family, and she's in Los Angeles now." Basinger, 47, who won a supporting actress Oscar for her call-girl role in 1997's "L.A. Confidential," and Baldwin, 42, who currently stars as a libidinous actor in the comedy "State and Main," separated on Dec. 5, according to documents filed in Los Angeles Superior Court. The filing on Friday marks Basinger's second divorce. She had been married to make-up artist Ron Britton from 1980-89.
