The big question posed by the Golden Globes ceremony on Sunday night, other than will "Gladiator" really trample "Traffic" at the Oscars, is, what was up with Elizabeth Taylor? The 68-year-old star seemed slightly overwhelmed when she presented the last award of the night, for the best dramatic picture. Not only did she almost not read the names of the nominees, but she didn't appear to know that there was a teleprompter. (Producer Dick Clark came out and pointed a finger to help her out, and she quipped that she's more used to getting than presenting awards.) On Tuesday, reports USA Today, her spokesman, Warren Cowan, said that the screen legend didn't realize she was supposed to read from the teleprompter. "They didn't ask for a rehearsal for her, they said they'd fill her in beforehand, but they really didn't, in my opinion," Cowan said. She was faxed a list of the nominated movies a week in advance, he said. Not that La Liz was upset. After the show, she told Cowan, "Let's go home." She also, reports veteran gossip columnist Liz Smith, promptly dispatched a bill to producer Clark: $6,000, for hair and makeup.
