Nicole Kidman's publicist Down Under confirmed that the estranged wife of Tom Cruise suffered a miscarriage earlier this year, the Australian-born actress' rep. Wendy Day, told Sydney's Daily Telegraph. "It is a private matter for Tom and Nicole to work out," said Day, who then went on to tell the Australian Associated Press: "I believe the story is out there and running. We can't deny the story." Day declined further comment, and Kidman's mother reportedly refused to speak to reporters at all. Cruise, 38, surprised Kidman, 33, by filing for divorce last month in Los Angeles. In a recent cover story PEOPLE quoted friends of Kidman's as saying it is expected that the proceedings will get down and dirty. The Cruises were married for 10 years. They have two adopted children, Isabella, 8, and Conor, 6.
