At the age of 94, famed writer (and wife of pioneering aviator Charles Lindbergh) Anne Morrow Lindbergh, died in her Montpelier, Vt., home on Wednesday. An esteemed author, who wrote 13 books of memoirs, fiction, poems and essays, Lindbergh was also the co-pilot to her husband during their many flights around the world from 1929 to 1935 (he died in 1974). Notably, she was the first American woman to get a glider pilot's license. No stranger to tragedy, Anne Morrow Lindbergh dealt with the 1932 kidnapping and murder of her baby son, who was taken from the couple's Princeton, N.J., home (she and Lindbergh had five other children). Born in Englewood, N.J., she attended Smith College. According to the Associated Press, she was surrounded by family at the time of her death.
